We get asked an unbelievable number of questions which is awesome because it shows how interested you guys are in our services. To make sure you get a quick and easy reply, and to save us time, we’ve put together some of our frequently asked questions! If your question isn’t answered here, please contact us and we’d be happy to answer!
Q: How much notice do I need to give to book in?
A: As much as possible! We’re usually very busy and booked up, and we are especially so at the minute thanks to the easing of lockdown.
However, please do ring us with your enquiry as we might be able to squeeze you in. For example, we can take more wheels on and fit them between jobs, as long as they come in loose and clean ready for the job.
Q: Can I bring my lease car in before I return it?
A: Absolutely. We all know lease companies charge a fortune for any damage done to the wheels. In our experience, 95% of car leasing companies will charge you to replace the wheel with a brand new wheel instead getting it refurbished. Check the terms and conditions!
For example, we had Audi SQ5 which had 22” diamond cut wheels on that was damaged. These cost £1200-1400 per wheel which the lease company would have charged. She came us and it cost her a fraction of that price.
Don’t pay their inflated costs – we will do the repairs for a fraction of the price. Make sure to book in as early as possible though before your return date as we do get really booked up in advance. Book in for just before you take the car back.
Q: What items can you powder coat?
A: Most metal items that can take the heat of curing! We have done everything from cars, motorbikes, go karts, fireplaces, garden furniture, bird baths… the list goes on. If you want to give your special something a really cool, long lasting, good looking make over… bring it to us!
Q: Where can I go when it's just a quick job?
A: There is a Morrisons supermarket just 100 yards away and they have a café inside where you can while away some time whilst we’re working on your job.
Q: Can we refurbish split rims?
A: Yes we definitely can! Check out our Alloy Wheel Refurbishment and Repair page for more info and pictures
Q: Why aren’t there any prices on the website?
A: Good question! Let’s use cars as an example. No two cars are the same, even if they’re the same make and model. Plus, no two repair jobs are the same because whatever incident caused the damage is unique to your situation. So, we can’t offer a flat rate for everything because no two jobs are the same!
We have really transparent pricing, and we are upfront and honest about the cost of our work. We ask for you to respect the craftsmanship that goes into what we do and not ask us to try and haggle the price down.
Q: Do I need to clean my wheels and parts before bringing them in?
A: You don’t NEED but we would love it if you can.
Let’s say that you’re bringing a car in for a quote to have the wheels repaired. If we can’t see the damage because of all the dirt, grease, oil and build up then we can’t quote you properly. This could lead to a conversation further down the line when we’ve started when we realise there’s more work involved.
Secondly, if you’re booked in and bring your parts in dirty, we will need to charge you extra to clean these down. Cleaning isn’t what we do and isn’t part of the price we charge so, save yourself some money and do it beforehand!
Q: Do you work with super/high value cars and/or high value wheels?
A: We certainly do. Because of the precious nature of these cars and wheels, these projects require extra care and attention. We will price these individually according to what each job entails. The same goes for any special or custom finishes.
Q: Do you offer warranty?
A: We do – We offer 12 months standard warranty for wheel refurbishment and 6 months for diamond cut wheels.
Q: How long does powder coating last?
A: This is a difficult question to answer because it’s like asking how long a piece of string is! It all depends on what condition the item is in when you bring it to us to coat. If something has rust in it or is corroded, in time, that will come back out and there’s nothing that can be done to prevent it. Wheels bear the brunt of heat, salt from rain and other corrosives so adding some protection to them will massively help to keep them clean and prolong their life
